The Rosaireville mission was established in the 19th century by the Bourque families of Cap-Pelé, Aucoin and Gallant of Prince Edward Island. The first church was built in 1905, but fire struck the building in 1925. We say that during the construction of the first church, Mgr. Richard arrived on day, and asked the workers to stop working and recite a rosary. In memory of this incident the community decided to name the parish Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire. This church was an important part of the community until 1975 when the community decided to destroy it. In 1977 they built a smaller church intergrated in the previous sacristy.
